Lecture on Hijab

LECTURE ON HIJAAB

The Almighty Allah mentions in the Holly Qur'aan,

O Prophet!  Tell your wives and your daughters and the woman of the believers to draw their Jila'abib over their bodies.
That will be better that they should be known so as not to be annoyed. And Allah is Ever Oft-Forgiving , Most Merciful.

     The command of Hija'b

The above Verse Allah tells His Messenger (saw) to command the believing woman - especially his wives and daughters, because of their position of honour - to draw their Jilbabs over their bodies,  so that they will be distinct in their appearance from women of the Jahiliyyah and from slave women.
The Jilbab is a Rida'a,  worn over the Khimar. This was the view of Ibn Mas'ud, Ubydullah, Qatadah, Al-Hassan Al-Basr, Saad bin Jubayr, Ibrahim An-Kakha'i and Ata Al-Khuraasani and others.
It is like the Izaar used today.  Al-Jawhari said: "The Jilbab is the outer wrapper. "

Ali bin Abi Talhah reported that Ibn Abbas said that Allah commanded the believing women,  when they went out of their houses for some need,  to cover their faces from above their heads with the Jilbab, leaving only one eye showing ( At-Tabari 20:324).

Muhammed bin Sireen said, I asked Ubaydullah As-Salman about the Verse:
( to draw the Jila'bib over their bodies) (  Surah Al-Ahzaab Verse 59) He covered his face and head, with just his left eye showing ( At-Tabar 20:325)

The Verse continues,
(That will be better that they should be known so as not to be annoyed. ) Meaning,  if they do that, it will be known that they are free,  and that they are not servants or whores.

(And Allah is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful)

Means, with regard to what happened previously during the days of Ja'hiliyyah (ignorance), when they did not have any knowledge about this.

Aisha (RA) narrates that, during Haji season the Messenger of Allah commanded them to cover their faces during Tawaaf and Sa'ee etc when a Ghair Mahraam passes is comes in front of them.

In another Hadeeth: Once Aisha and Hafsah (RA) was sitting with Rasulullah (saw), Abdullah Ibn Umme Mak'tumi (RA) the Muathin and who was a blind Sahabi came to visit The Messenger of Allah (saw), upon his arrival the Messenger of Allah ( saw) told them (Aisha and Hafsa) to cover their faces,  upon this they said O the Messenger of Allah, He is a blind man he can't see us  (why should wear cover our faces).
Rasulullah (saw) said to them, are you two blind?

From the above Verse and Ahadeeth, it us clear that the Hijaab for believing women is to cover the whole body leaving the eyes only and that is correct according to theTafsir.

Covering of the heard and leaving of the face uncovered it is not complete Hijaab according to the above Verse of (Al-Ahzaab),  Ahadeeth and Ijmah.
Most of our sisters today they like the view of Sheikh Al-Albany who is of the view that,  the Hijaab is covering of the whole body and leaving of the face, palms and feet,  which is against the above Ayyah and Ahadeeth.
Ulamahs of the early and later stage agreed upon that the beauty of a woman lies on her face,  so how can that face  left uncovered and exposed?

The Messenger of Allah (saw) said, No woman should describe another woman to her husband so that it is as if he looking at her.

Its clear on the above Hadeeth that Hijaab is to cover the face as well, thats why your own wife it not proper for her even to describe another woman to her own husband.

In another Hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah (RA) said, the that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said: The son of Adam has his share of Zina decreed for him, and he will commit that which has been decreed.  The Zina of the eyes is looking,  the Zina of tongue is speaking,  the Zina of ears is listening,  the Zina of hands is of  the hands is striking,  and the Zina of the feet is walking.  The soul wishes and desires,  and the private parts confirm or deny that.

They are types of Hijaab which the Messenger of (saw) has warned us, He said, before the final there shall appear in my Ummat some women who will wear the Hijaab like of the hump of a camel, till end of the Haeeth.

This has already appeared in this Ummah,  you will see all types of those Hijaabs worn with tidy jeans and most of them are arrogant ad described in the Sunnah.

My sisters modesty is part of faith,  in both dressing and in our daily leaving and observing of Hijaab remember it is compulsory upon you.
Sever and worse punishment is set aside for those women who reveal their beauty to Ghair Maha'arim.

One of the women of Hell fire.
The Prophet (saw) said:  O Ali (RA), on the night of Ascension (Miraaj) I saw woman of my Ummah who were being severily punished that I became concerned for them and started crying.
There mentioned 7 types of women and one of them:

I saw a woman's body was being shredded to pieces by scissors made of fire.

Fatimah (RA) then inquired her father,  Please tell me, what did those women do to deserve such type of punishment?

The Prophet (saw) replied:

The one whose body was being cut by scissors made of fire,  never observed hijaab in front of non maha'reem men.

Mentioned in length Hadeeth.

My sisters you are the treasures of this Ummah and Allah and his Rasool has spoken high of you, so behave well so that you can meet the pleased Allah.

May Allah(SWT) protect us from the punishment of the grave and the punishment of the hell fire and grant us Janaat firdaus. Ameen.

May اللَّهُ سبحانه وتعالي   grant us the understanding of what's beimg said and grant us the ability to bring whateva has being said in2 our lives and pass it on2 others ان شاءالله
