World Hijab Day ... 1st Feb

Weekend words of motivation

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ
السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللّهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهُ

To achieve exceptional results, take exceptional action. Get in the habit of quickly taking action, and you’ll get used to seeing your goals and dreams quickly taking shape.

The way you make use of your time determines the way your life unfolds. When you hold your time in the highest regard, you’ll reach your highest level of performance and fulfillment.

You have plenty of time to create plenty of success and achievement. Simply make full and effective use of each moment just as soon as it comes to you.

Taking exceptional action does not require any special skill. It’s simply a matter of choosing to make enthusiastic and persistent use of the skills you have.

You can choose to waste a good portion of each day on things that don’t really matter. Or, you can choose to fill your day with committed, effective action that’s focused on achieving your goals.

The choice is always yours to make. Go ahead, choose to take exceptional action, and enjoy a truly exceptional life.

May this weekend be filled with love and contentment

وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّلاَمُ وَرَحْمَةُ اللّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

Daily motivation

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيم
السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهُُ

Insist on excellence from yourself and your efforts. Don’t settle for anything less.

Excellence is not quick or easy, but that doesn’t mean it is out of reach. You know when you’re doing your very best, so don’t let up until you’re doing it.

If you’re going to make the effort, make it all the way. You can learn, and improve, and learn some more, and make use of your experience to make your way toward excellence.

The energy you put into doing it right is energy that’s well invested. Instead of wasting your time on half-hearted efforts, you can transform your time into real, lasting value.

The world may let you get by with less than you’re capable of giving. Yet true fulfillment depends on knowing that you’ve given your best.

Insist on excellence from yourself, and don’t stop until you’ve reached it. All of this wonderful life is yours, so take the opportunity to make it all truly count.

Have a blessed day filled with love and happiness

Ways to maintain family ties

The Quraan instructs us: And fear Allah through whose medium you ask one another (for your rights) and be mindful of your relatives. (4:1) The Hadith informs us: ‘Whoever believes in Allah and the last day, let him maintain the bonds of kinship.’ (Bukhari). Here are some factors to maintain family unity:

1. Regular Visits
Visiting family members regularly maintains family bonds. Relatives should be visited for the pleasure of Allah. ‘Those who love one another for the sake of Allah will be under the shade of Allah’s Throne, when there will be no shade on the Day of Resurrection except the shade of the Throne. Prophets and martyrs will envy them for their status.’ (Ibne Hibban)

2. Mutual Assistance.
Helping one’s relatives carries two rewards: ‘Charity given to a poor person is an ordinary charity, but charity given to a relative serves two purposes: one is a charity and secondly, an act of upholding family kinship.’ (Tirmidhi)

‘Whosoever desires to have expansion in his sustenance and a prolonged life, should treat his relatives with kindness.’ (Bukhari)

3. Exchanging Gifts.
Showering relatives with gifts is an effective method of generating love between people. ‘Exchange gifts with one another, you will create love and goodwill amongst yourselves.’ (Abu Ya’laa)

‘Give presents to one another, for a present removes hatred from the chest…’ (Tirmidhi)

World Hijab Day 1st Feb 2014

Durban Muslima

World Hijab Day

World Hijab Day is not a celebration. It is not a festival. It is an awareness drive aimed at educating, encouraging and breaking down barriers as to what "hijab" is all about.

Just like we have annual seminars, conferences, conventions, workshops and campaigns, the first of February is set aside and dedicated to our Muslim females who don the hijab and to get others acquainted with it.

The awareness drive is similar to other initiatives held on a yearly basis. Through it, we hope to spread the message that it is our duty to don the correct hijab not for just a day but every single day. Wearing the hijab is not a one-off thing and this message needs to be stressed repeatedly.

This awareness drive gives the opportunity to those who have yet to build the courage and give the much-needed push to take that significant first step. It also provides a platform to those who are misinformed and have misconceptions about the hijab to clear their doubts and seek clarification.

For those who are inquisitive as to what the hijab is all about, this awareness drive will hopefully allow you to get a firsthand feel of it.

Personally, I have seen so much benefit from World Hijab Day and have known and heard of experiences from those who have been impacted positively from this awareness drive.

I wish the organizers of World Hijab Day the very best and hope all involved will help towards the success of this educational drive.

Divorced daughters in Islam

The Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said: ‘Shall I not advise you on an excellent Sadaqah (charity)? It is what you spend to provide for a daughter who has been sent back to you, and who has no one but you to earn her livelihood.’ (Musnad Ahmed)

‘Has been sent back to you’ means a daughter sent back to her parents after being widowed or divorced by her husband. It may also mean that some other circumstances have necessitated her coming back to her parents. In these cases, all that is spent to meet her requirements is treated as an excellent charity, for it combines several acts of virtue: 1. Charity, 2. Helping a person in difficulty, 3. Strengthening family ties, 4. Loving care for one’s children.

The Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said: ‘For anyone helping a distressed person, Allah records 73 grades of forgiveness, one of which shall suffice him for his well-being in all worldly affairs and 72 will raise him spiritually on the Day of Qiyaamah.’

Umme Salamah radhiallahu anha once asked the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam: ‘Shall I gain any reward for what I spend on the sons of Abu Salamah, my previous husband, for they are my sons?’ He replied: ‘Spend on them, you will be rewarded for spending on them.’ (Mishkaat)

It is a praiseworthy act to treat one’s children with loving care even when they are not in need of help. Once, the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam embraced his grandsons. The chief of Banu Tameem said: ‘I have 10 children and have never shown affection to any of them.’ The Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam looked at him sharply and said: ‘He who does not show mercy, will not be shown mercy.’

nstead of judging in advance whether or not something will be enjoyable, make the intention to enjoy. And then live the reality of your own intention.

Your present attitude does not have to be restricted by your past experiences. Choose an attitude that will bring value and fulfillment, wherever you are, whatever you’re doing.

Let the substance of your life flow from your conscious, intentional choices. Decide how you will live each moment, and then follow through with that decision, no matter what does or does not happen in that moment.

The outside world is absolutely real and exerts significant influence. Yet you have even greater influence over the way your life unfolds.

Let go of the assumption that certain situations must necessarily engender certain attitudes and responses from you. In fact, turn it around and allow your positive, purposeful attitude to cast a bright and empowering light on every situation.

Create your own solid intentions of excellence, fulfillment, joy and effectiveness. Then live those intentions, no matter what.

May noor and rahmah of اللَّهُ سبحانه وتعالي descend upon us on this beautiful day ان شاءالله

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيم
السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهُُ

Don’t waste this precious day creating regrets. Invest your time creating value.

Don’t work against your own interests by using your energy to feel sorry for yourself. You can use that same energy, and more, to get beyond whatever may be troubling you.

The choices you make are what determine the quality of the life you live. Every time you have a choice to make, you have the opportunity to make life richer and more fulfilling.

You are immersed in abundance and possibility. Have the presence of mind to see it, and have the courage to make the most of it all.

There’s no limit to the number of ways you can make a difference. Remind yourself of that, and remind yourself of all that truly matters to you.

Opportunity is yours and it is called life. Now, live it well.

May this day bring joy and contentment in our lives ان شاءالله
