annual global Israeli Apartheid Week
As part of the annual global Israeli Apartheid Week* initiative (March 5 to 11), a group of organisations have come together to host an event on Sunday, March 11th from 2pm to 6pm at the Al Ansaar Hall in West Road, Overport.
'Roadmap to Apartheid,' the much-acclaimed documentary which examines similarities between Apartheid South Africa and Israel will be screened; and a discussion will be hel...d will Na'eem Jeenah the executive director of the Afro-Middle East Centre, and a student from Ramallah.
Entry is free but food; soft drinks and educational material will be sold to raise funds for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) South Africa campaign.
We urge everyone to recognise the impact of Israeli Apartheid Week which is now in its eight year. This can easily be seen in Israel's intention to dispatch a convoy of 100 Israelis worldwide during the week, to defend its state (see http://www.jpost.com/ DiplomacyAndPolitics/ Article.aspx?id=258409)
Please do attend and please pass the word on.
Anyone interested in distributing flyers, posters and stickers advertising the event can contact us at 083 785 5183 or info@ilmsa.co.za
RSVP-ing is not compulsory but will be appreciated. RSVP via SMS on 083 785 5183 or via email at info@ilmsa.co.za

Tropical storm all set to hit Durbs
Durban - Disaster management teams are on standby for a tropical cyclone expected to hit the Northern Coast of KwaZulu-Natal this weekend, a municipal official said on Friday. "Disaster teams are on high alert and ready to respond to any si...tuation," said eThekwini spokesperson Thabo Mofokeng.
The SA Weather Service earlier warned that the storm system would dump an "extreme" amount of rain on the region over the next two to three days.
"Areas around Kosi Bay, St Lucia, and Richard's Bay can expect up to 400mm of rain over this period," weather spokesperson Hannelee Doubell said.
Mofokeng advised people staying next to rivers to keep important documents in a safe place. Durban's fire department and metro police could be contacted on 031 361 0000.
The amount of rain expected was of an "extreme nature", and was last experienced when tropical cyclone Domoina hit KwaZulu-Natal in 1984.
"Domoina brought between 400 and 600mm of rain over a period of two to three days," Doubell said.
She said the system should start weakening by Tuesday.
