On the day of Eid Al-Fitr ILM-SA brings around 200 underprivileged children to Essenwood Park for a party the likes of which they only get to enjoy once a year on this occasion. We provide them with a new set of clothes each in advance to wear on the day, transport, meals, plenty of goodies, and all in all it's a wonderful day.

We cannot stress how they value the clothing we give them. They wear these clothes regularly thereafter, and really appreciate them. There's also a cycle of empowerment in place, as the clothes for the girls are sewn by a widow who relies on this as a source of income. Each set of clothes costs between R200 to R250.

We need to start to get the ball rolling now, as the lady who sews these clothes isn't in the best of health, and she has many sets (100)  to sew.

We would therefore like to ask anyone who would like to sponsor a set or more of clothes to please inform us thereof. This would surely be very rewarding for you, and very helpful for us, and our children, as well as the woman who sews these clothes.

All in all we require 100 sets of clothes. We therefore require R25 000 which we assure you goes to wonderful use in clothing the less privileged.  The rest of the children are boys and their clothes are sourced from a wholesaler. Both Zakaah and Lillah are acceptable for this purpose.

You can sponsor as many sets as possible at R250 per set, in one of the following ways:
1)  Simply drop off cash at our office, middle office (ILM-SA), Parking C, NMJ Islamic Centre open Mondays to Thursdays 9am to 12pm, Fridays 9am to 11am, Saturdays 11am to 1pm.
2)  Let us know if you want to do an EFT, and if so, whether it's zakaah or lillah, as well as the quantity of sets you'd like to sponsor - we will then send you the relevant details.  You can contact us on or via Whatsapp at 083 271 4500.

In order to gain a sense of what this celebration is about and how much it means to the children, and what a difference the new clothes makes to our children, please visit the following sites:

Hoping to receive a wonderful response from you, ILM-SA

Marriage - Maintaning Your Identity

*Do you ever feel that time is moving really fast, without you having done any of the things you once dreamt of doing?
*Do you ever tell yourself that you've forgotten who you are?
*What about 'me' time - is this something which makes you feel guilty?

If you've answered 'yes' to the above questions, perhaps it's time to ask yourself how important you are to you.

ILM for Women presents 'Marriage - Maintaining your Identity' the second session in our Live, Love and Learn series of morning programmes, especially designed to assist the Muslim woman in navigating her way through the ups and downs of everyday life.

This session will be presented by Zohra Sooliman. Zohra is the co-founder of the Gift of the Givers Foundation, an NGO known for its humanitarian and social response operations both locally & abroad. She is the director of one of the 21 projects of the GOTG - the GOTG Careline, which is a telephone counseling service. The Careline essentially offers telephone and face-to-face counselling, runs various training programmes, support groups, awareness and development programmes aimed at service users, volunteers, organisations and the community. Zohra is a UKZN graduate and is currently engaged in post graduate studies in trauma work.

ILM SA - Arabic Classes

Alhamdulillah our first morning Arabic class kicked off this week, and was very successful. "I actually learnt a sentence in my first lesson, and the lesson load was manageable," said one of the students.

Due to many queries, we've decided to offer an evening option, starting this coming week in sha Allah.

Please see details below and if you are CERTAIN you will attend, then please SMS/Whatsapp your name and surname, and the evening on which you'll be attending to 083 271 4500 or email - please note, without intending any offense, that in the past people have registered and not pitched up which really poses a logistical nightmare as our teachers do not live in the area. Please don't register unless you are sure you will be attending. The deadline for registration is Tuesday night.

OPTION 1: Wednesdays 6pm to 7pm
OPTION 2: Thursdays 6pm to 7pm

Cost: R250 per month, including notes, text books, etc.

Venue: NMJ Islamic Centre, upstairs, second class room on left, in the passage where the classrooms are situated (please note the exact location as there are several other Arabic classes taking place in the same venue)

Both classes are open to males and females.
We look forward to hearing from you,
