How 40,000 mongols accepted islam
Hulaqu Khan, the well known tyrant Mongolian ruler who
killed approximately a million people in the invasion of Baghdad including
countless scholars was invited and assisted by the Rafidah Shi’a. The great
hadith scholar Ibn Hajr Al-Asqalani (rahimahullah) narrates the following
incident that took place during the reign of Hulaqu:
“On one occasion, a delegation of
senior Christian clergy were invited to a grand celebration marking the
conversion to Christianity of a high ranking Mongol ruler. His dog was tied to
a leash nearby. One of the clergymen began a tirade of insults towards the
Prophet salAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. The dog tied up began to get agitated,
growling before leaping at him and inflicting him with a deep wound. It took a
number of men to finally subdue the dog.
A man then said to the Christian, “The dog did this
because of these your words (attempting to) dishonour Muhammad.” He replied,
“No, it is because the dog is strong and easily-riled. It saw me gesture with
my hand and thought I was about to hit it (thus it attacked).”
Then, he began to revile the Prophet sal Allahu ‘alayhi
wa sallam again, this time with speech even more foul than before. At this, the
dog broke free from its leash and sunk its teeth into his neck and tore out his
throat, killing him immediately. Upon witnessing this incident, 40,000
Mongolians accepted Islam.

Imam Adh-Dhahabi also mentioned this story in his “Mu’jam
Ash-Shuyookh” (p.387) with an authentic chain.
One of the witnesses to this incident, Jamal Ad-Deen
(whose narration Ibn Hajar quotes) adds, “I swear by Allah, the dog savagely
mauled him in front of my eyes then bit his throat, tearing it out and killing
the accursed one. This incident went on to become very well known. سبحان الله
